Acceptable photo IDs include:

• Alabama driver's license or non-driver ID card issued by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). This ID must be current or have expired within the past 60 days.

The signature on your return envelope must be notarized or signed by 2 witnesses who are 18 or older.

If you forget to sign the return envelope, or do not have it notarized or signed by 2 witnesses, your ballot will be rejected.

You must include the following with your application:

• Alaska driver’s license OR non-driver ID card number
• Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number

The signature on your return envelope must be notarized, unless one is not reasonably accessible. In that case, you may sign the return envelope in the presence of a witness who is over 18 years old. The witness must sign the return envelope attesting that you cast the ballot on the date shown. In addition, you must provide an identifier, which can be your Alaska driver's license ID number, Alaska voter ID number, date of birth, or last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.

If you forget to sign the return envelope, your witness does not sign, or you do not include an identifier, your ballot will be rejected.

You must include the following with your application:

• Arizona driver’s license OR non-driver ID card number
• Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number

Your signature on the return envelope will be compared to the signature on your voter registration card to ensure they match.

If you forget to sign the return envelope, your ballot might be rejected. If the county is unable to verify the signature, they will attempt to contact you.

The signature on your absentee ballot application will be compared to the signature on your voter registration card to ensure they match.

You must include a copy of a valid photo ID with your voted ballot. Your ID must show your name and must have been issued by the state of Arkansas, the federal government, or an accredited Arkansas college/university. The ID must be current or have expired within 4 years.

Your signature on the return envelope will be compared to the signature on your voter registration card to ensure they match. If you forget to sign the return envelope, your ballot might be rejected.

All California elections are held by mail. This means that California will automatically send a mail-in ballot to every active registered voter ahead of all elections.

• If you need to update your mailing address permanently, register to vote again using your new mailing address.
• If you need to update your mailing address temporarily — because you will be out of town for a specific election -- request a one-time absentee ballot.

Your signature on the return envelope will be compared to the signature on your voter registration card to ensure they match.

If you forget to sign the return envelope, your ballot might be rejected. If there’s an issue with the signature, your county elections office will notify you via mail, phone, email, or through the Secretary of State’s “Where’s My Ballot?” tool.

• All Colorado elections are held by mail. This means that Colorado will automatically send a mail-in ballot to every registered voter ahead of all elections.
• Colorado does not support one-time absentee ballots, so if you will be away from home during a specific election, you need to register to vote again and update the address where you want to receive your ballot.

Your signature on the return envelope will be compared to the signature on your voter registration record to ensure they match. First-time voters may also be required to include a copy of an acceptable form of ID.

• Pilot’s license issued by the FAA or other authorized US agency
• Colorado government employee ID card with a photo

Acceptable non-photo ID includes:

• Current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows your name and address. This must be dated within the last 60 days.
• Certified U.S. birth certificate
• Medicare or Medicaid card issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
• Certificate of Degree of Indian or Alaskan Native Blood

If you forget to sign the return envelope or did not include required ID, your ballot might be rejected. If there’s an issue with the signature, your county elections office will notify you.

• Online applications: You can request your absentee ballot online if you have a Connecticut driver's license or non-driver ID number.
• Paper applications: If you do not have a Connecticut DMV ID, you may complete a paper application.

You must sign the statement on the return envelope. If you forget to sign this statement, your ballot might be rejected.

• Online applications: You can request your absentee ballot online if you have a Delaware driver's license or non-driver ID number.
• Paper applications: If you do not have a Delaware DMV ID, you may complete a paper application. Providing your Social Security Number on the paper application is optional.

You must sign the oath on the return envelope. If you forget to sign this oath, your ballot might be rejected.

• All District of Columbia elections are held by mail. This means that the District of Columbia will automatically send a mail-in ballot to every active, registered voter ahead of all elections.
• Voters who are away from their District of Columbia residence during the election may submit a mail-in ballot request form to have their ballot mailed to an alternate mailing address. You must include either your DC-issued driver’s license, non-driver ID, or the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number in the request.

You must sign and date the return envelope for your ballot to be valid. If you forget to sign the return envelope, your ballot might be rejected.

• Paper applications: To submit a paper application by mail or in person, you have two options for ID.
  • Option 1: One of the following numbers:
    • Pennsylvania driver’s license OR non-driver ID issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
    • Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number

• Acknowledgement that you do not have any of the above forms of ID.

Your signature on the return envelope will be compared to the signature on file to ensure they match. You must also provide one of the following:

• Texas driver’s license, non-driver ID, or election identification certificate number issued by Texas DPS
• Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
• A statement that you have not been issued either of the other 2 options

If you forget to sign the return envelope and provide identifying information, your ballot might be rejected.

If you return your ballot in-person to the early voting clerk, you must show a current photo ID. Acceptable photo IDs include:

• Texas driver’s license, non-driver ID, or election identification certificate issued by Texas DPS
• Texas Handgun License issued by Texas DPS
• U.S. Military ID
• U.S. Citizenship certificate
• U.S. passport (book or card)

• All Utah elections are held by mail. This means that Utah will automatically send a mail-in ballot to every active, registered voter ahead of all elections.
• Voters who are away from their Utah residence during the election may submit an Alternate Address Request Form to have their ballot mailed to an alternate mailing address.
  • To use the online request form, you must use a valid Utah driver’s license or non-driver Utah ID.
  • No ID is required to complete the Alternate Address Request Form via mail.

• For General Elections, Vermont will automatically send a mail-in ballot to every active, registered voter ahead of the election.
• Voters who are away from their Vermont residence during the election may request another ballot by contacting their local election office.

You must sign the return envelope for your ballot to be valid. If you forget to sign the return envelope, your ballot might be rejected. If your ballot is rejected, your town clerk will contact you.
